Enjoying Neon... over 30

One of this season's brightest trends is NEON!.

But if you were a teenager when this trend emerged the first time, circe 1980something, then you may be thinking you're a little long in the tooth to be rocking it this time around.  Not necessarily.

My opinion is that if you're anywhere around the 35-40 or over mark, you simply need to do NEON in a slightly more subtle and grown-up, "I have a paying job and am old enough to drink" kind of way.

Neon can be kicked up.  Below I have created a collection of ways to incorporate it into your everyday.  I'm having a major crush on yellow right now, so I've started with a fun & sunny tank and put together the perfect "bopping around", running errands, chasing children, working from home, or looking cute on the weekend, kinda look.

If you're trepidatious about busting out the "Look at me!!" hues, go with one bold NEON focal point, like the top below, and then pair it with gray or white jeans and a pair of simple but elegant flats...my fav's are by Miss Tory Burch, and If you can splurge on one pair this season, I'd make it these.

If you're feeling all risky and bold-like, don't be afraid to mix your NEONS.  I'd stick with no more than two at a time.

Or, simply add a few bright NEON pops with some accessories.  There are plenty of scarves, handbags, jewelry pieces, and shoes sporting bits of NEON right now.  I was just out shopping and it's seriously almost everywhere.  Except maybe Talbots and L.L. Bean. But really, I'm thankful because that would just cause global unrest and no one wants that on a Wednesday morning.

Hope this collection inspires you to be BOLD, have fun, and PLAY with your style this season!

Molly Ringwald would be proud.
